    Disk Recognition


    I have fitted a spare crucial SSD into an external enclosure to work through an USB port, my problem is when i try to optimise it, it thinks it is a Hard DisK Drive and want to defragment it. How do i get my laptop to recognise it is an SSD.

    In the Device manager can you double-click the "usb to sata connection" > Details, then choose "Hardware Ids" from the drop-down menu under "Property".

    What is listed under "Value"?

    Disk Recognition

    Your laptop recognizes USB adapter and it takes care of working with disk. You can turn automatic defragmentation in disk's properties.
