    Hello,
On my new computer, is installed Windows 10 pro with all updates till today (23-Mar-2018).
Current version is Version 1709 (OS Build 16299.309).
Now on the disk there are some large folders which consume space:
    $GetCurrent = 3.94 GB
    Windows.old = 15.3 GB
    Windows 10Upgrade = 20MB
I would like to have your opinion about deleting these large folders.
    Answers will be appreciated
    Thanks

    :)

See Frederik Long's reply and let me add the following:

There are several things you can do to free up some disk space, but they are almost all temporary. If you are short of disk space, no matter what you do, you will soon find yourself back in the same situation. The only real solution to your problem is to
either buy a second hard drive or replace the one you have with a larger one.

No matter what instructions I follow I am unable to free up disk space to update computer or restore it.

-> Your post is a statement. Did you have a question?

What instructions did you follow? (You need to mention them so that respondents do not repeat those very same instructions.)

As this is a new install, I would run disk cleanup first.

If the directories above are still there you can delete them manually - you definitely don't need them.

Windows 10 Pro with nothing extra added and ignoring pagefile etc is about 10GB (about 7GB if you compress it).

Much bigger than that on a fresh install you definitely have something you don't need.

You can delete $GetCurrent and Windows 10Upgrade, those are folders to perform the upgrade.
Windows.Old will be automatically deleted if you don't want/need to go back to the previous version after 1 month.

    Hello,
    Thanks for the answer.
Just curious, what triggers the automatic deletion of the Windows.Old folder ?
    Thanks

It's essentially on a timer. It will be automatically removed on the 11 day following the upgrade that spawned the Windows.old folder hierarchy to begin with (10 days afterwards, in different terms). I imagine it runs as a one-time scheduled task added to Task Scheduler at the end of the installation process.

Manufacturers often supply their machines with an earlier version of Windows preinstalled. Microsoft release a new version every six months, so if the PC had been in stock for a little while it's likely to have the previous version. This is not important as the PC will update itself to the latest version as you use it.

That looks like what has happened to your new PC. Disk Clean-up's 'clean up system files' option can remove these folders for you.
