Windows 10: Diskpart Error

I had a broken USB drive, and i used Diskpart as Admin to fix it, and i used these commands: list disk (i found the USB disk) select disk 1 (select USB) clean (clean the disk) convert mbr (convert USB to MBR) exit (leave diskpart) Then I opened Disk Management, and right clicked on USB New Simple Volume and then max size, default letter, and i put a custom label USB. An the USB fixed. Then i was to fix the second USB the same way, but after typing clean in diskpart, i waited for it to clean, but instead of showing Diskpart succeded in cleaning the disk, i got a Bluescreen (BSOD). I dont know why did this happen because it worked on the first USB. Both these USB sticks were the same model. I didnt lose any data after BSOD, so i checked Event Viewer, but i got some error messages when i opened it, so i closed it. Anyway, i dont know why this happened. And BTW, this is my first BSOD.

diskpart doesn't show disk

Hey,

I am trying to install Win10 on a mac book air.

However the diskpart does not list the disk even after reformatting the partition as NTFS per suggestion.

read through this solution but cannot move to step 1 listed in the solution by Ivan as that disk doesn't see that partition it was just able to reformat.

Diskpart problems?

Hi again, I tried what you suggested and got the same error message as before. I spoke to a guy on another forum and he suggested typing the "Active" command before doing the Format.
diskpart
list disk
select disk # <-replace # with the actual number for the USB flash drive
clean
create partition primary
select partition 1
active
format fs=fat32 quick
He tried it on a Windows 7 PC with the Active command straight after format and he was told to select a partition again...but when selecting Active first before format it was fine.
Im thinking that might be the case on my Windows 10 laptop too but instead of getting a reminder to select a partition I get an error. After the error message If I select a partition and Type Active everything is OK. It seems a bit strange I know!!

Can I ask you though. Is it OK to type the Active command before the Format command or should Active only be typed into Diskpart after the Format has been done?

You will get this error when you are using diskpart clean command on system disk. The system disk contains the Windows operating system files and other critical files, if you are allowed to clean the system disk, all the data and partitions will be gone. That
will result in a lot of errors and chaos. Meanwhile, the delete volume is greyed out in Disk Management. In this case, the new SSD drive may be regarded as the system disk due to the system files, etc.

Using Windows installation disc to clean

If you have the Windows installation disc, you can follow these steps to solve clean is not allowed issue in Windows 7/8/10:

1. Insert the Windows installation disc, then boot from it.

2. Click Repair your computer> Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Command Prompt.

3. Then input the diskpart commands to clean hard disk:

diskpart

list disk

select disk [disknumber]

clean

Diskpart Clean

Then you could create a new partition on the drive to solve this problem.
