  2. Manual installation of windows update - DISM fails

    Hi all!

We've recently just installed a Windows 10 OS to our laboratory computer and I need to install some updates. Unfortunately, windows update is always stuck at 0% so I decided to search and download the updates manually. For most of the updates, they are .cab
files instead of .exe. I've searched online and I found out that you can install them using:

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:"file.cab"

Unfortunately, I keep getting a 0x80070002 error. I tried moving the .cab installers to other directories (shorter directories with no spaces) but still get the same error. I also tried to rename the .cab files that contain "."
in the filename, but still get the same error.

Is there are a way to resolve 0x80070002? Or is there another way to manually install these updates.

    Thank you!

    manually install cab-files

    Hallo alltogther

Cause win10-auto-update frequently sucks my Broadband volume dry (updating 4 pc) - i decided to do it manually and

download the files from update-catalogue. All works with .msu files, but with cab files never.

I use dism ( DISM.exe /Online /Add-Package /PackagePath:xxx), but the same happens also with PkgMgr

    CBS.log says:

And indeed, there is not an update.mum file in the .cab (in any i tried).

So the question is: How to install these files, or are they not for this purpose?

    Regards Georg.

    P.S The OS is a win10-pro, 10.0.15063

DISM error 0x800f080a, trying to update manually .cab add package

    Fix error 80092004 (KB4340558)

In the previous post I was mistaken and incorrectly written.

I will repeat it once more. (I first used the cab files on the command line)

    Step 4. dism /online /add-package /packagepath:C:\updatefix\expanded\Windows8.1-KB4054566-x64.cab- CMD write Error
    80092004

    (reboot do not asked).

    Step 5. dism /online /remove-package /packagepath:C:\updatefix\expanded\Windows8.1-KB4054566-x64.cab- CMD Write:
    Package for KB4054566 error 80092004
AGAIN. AGAIN !!! And write : operation not performed.
    look LOG on windows\logs\DISM\dism.log

Step 6. go back to step 4.

CMD Write error 80092004 AGAIN And write : operation not performed. look LOG on windows\logs\DISM\dism.log

You manually dowloaded a couple of .msu files from the Windows Catalog download site. Expand them one by one to .cab files and use step 5 on all of them. After this go back to step 4 and start with the .cab file that gives the problem

Are you kidding ? In the update center for Windows - these updates are not installed - KB4343898 and KB4054566.

I downloaded into the manual files from the Windows Catalog, expand to cab and did every step of your method, I wrote to you above. Your method does not work !
command line every time, on any cab-file, any update - writes ERROR !
