Windows 10: DISM "Failed to open image." CWimImageInfo Mounthr:0x8007000d

Hi


From the Media creation tool for 20H2 i have downloaded the ISO then i have extract the WIM for Pro version index 6

I have deployed this WIM through MDT, made my changes and sysprep genralize+shutdown

Then i simply captured the image with

dism /Capture-Image /ImageFile:Z:\OS\Capture\W10X64EN\W10X64EN.wim /CaptureDir:C:\ /Name:"Windows 10 EN" /compress:max


i open the WIM to validate its correct with DISM.GUI tool but i have the error if i boot after the capture, windows start correctly

Error: 13

The data is invalid.

The DISM log file can be found at C:\Windows\Logs\DISM\dism.log

DISM - Parameter "Cleanup-Image" is not known (error 87)

Hello Eric,

To troubleshoot your concern, we suggest that you run DISM Restore Health command. Refer to the steps provided below:

• Open Command Prompt (Administrator).
• Type the following command:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

3. Press Enter.

Error code 0x8007000D - 0x90002

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

If you receive Windows Update error 0x8007000d, it means that a file needed by Windows Update is damaged or missing. Try one of these methods to resolve the problem.

Method 1: I suggest you to first run Windows update troubleshooter and check if it helps you fix the issue.

• 
  In the search tab type Troubleshooting and hit enter.
  
• 
  Select System and security.
  
• 
  Click Windows update troubleshooter and follow the onscreen instructions.
  

Method 2: Try the following steps to run
DISM scan to check and restore system file corruption:

• 
  Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
  
• 
  In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  

Check to see if the issue is resolved. If not, restart the PC.

 

How to get damn DISM to work?

Thx guys, I'll compress this data into a blog post. For all the so called guides I've read, not a single one mentioned it has to be WIM file (some listed even ESD which clearly doesn't work) or that certain ISO images don't work with DISM.

After I've done DISM thingie, SFC also managed to repair stuff. Which is what I've needed here.
