Windows 10: DISM STUCK 62.3%.

I've been trying to install Ubuntu on my Windows 10 using WSL, and for that, I needed to enable the WSL feature in "Control Panel > Programs and Feature > Windows Features " but I got the "0x700800C1" error. I tried to enable this feature using PowerShell and DISM command, but I got an error saying: "%1 is not a valid win32 application". Then I tried running these commands to fix the problem with DISM:


DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealthz
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth


the first two parts worked ok, and the operations completed successfully but for the last command operation stocks at 62.3%.




I tried closing the terminal and rerun them, but it seemed DISM is still working on the last command because it didn't do anything.





When I tried rebooting the window it also stuck on the "Windows is getting ready don't turn off your PC" message. Is there any other way to enable the WSL feature without resetting the OS or reinstalling it?

DISM - Parameter "Cleanup-Image" is not known (error 87)

To troubleshoot your concern, we suggest that you run DISM Restore Health command. Refer to the steps provided below:

• Open Command Prompt (Administrator).
• Type the following command:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

3. Press Enter.

In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

 

How to get damn DISM to work?

Thx guys, I'll compress this data into a blog post. For all the so called guides I've read, not a single one mentioned it has to be WIM file (some listed even ESD which clearly doesn't work) or that certain ISO images don't work with DISM.

After I've done DISM thingie, SFC also managed to repair stuff. Which is what I've needed here.
