Windows 10: DISM WinSxS cleanup problem

Hi there,

i tried using the startcomponentcleanup command but it stopped at 99% and wouldnt move for a while, then i closed the command promt window and tried it again but that time it didnt even display a progress bar.

I tried closing my pc to see if it needed a restart but now my pc is stuck on a "preparing windows, please dont turn off your computer" screen...

What should i do?

DISM - Parameter "Cleanup-Image" is not known (error 87)

To troubleshoot your concern, we suggest that you run DISM Restore Health command. Refer to the steps provided below:

• Open Command Prompt (Administrator).
• Type the following command:

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Dism not cleaning up WinSxS

Hello

My WinSxS folder is currently ~6GB big, so I tried using "Dism.exe /online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup" (and variants) to clean it up. The "problem" is that Dism doesn't actually clean up WinSxS, but says it did: when I start the command (in admin
mode on cmd), the following happens:

[=========== 20.0% ]

L’opération a réussi.

(It is in french, sorry.) The last line says that the operation has succeeded, tho it hasn't reached 100%, and WinSxS is only a few (dozens) MB smaller, but still above 6GB. I've restarted Windows and tried again, but with the exact
same result.

I am using a Surface Pro with Windows 10 Professional. Below is what show up on "Settings > About".

I don't think it is up to date (which may be the cause for my problem), but I can't update it.

Tell me if you need any more info on my pc.

 

How to get damn DISM to work?

Yes, I have the image mounted, the same bloody image I've used to install the OS I'm just using. This is absurd. I've tried this:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:E:\x64\sources\install.esd
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:E:\x64\sources\install.esd:1
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:E:\x64\sources\install.esd
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:E:\x64\sources\install.esd /limitaccess
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:E:\x64\sources\install.esd:1
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:esd:E:\x64\sources\install.esd:1 /limitaccess

None of this crap works even though entire freaking internet is saying that this is the way to do it. Some even mention using quotas for the path which makes no difference (It doesn't need it anyway since there aren't any spaces anyway.

I just can't understand how can OS integrity check tool feature be dumber as years pass by instead of being smarter and more useful.

Redownloading 4 gigs of stupid image because the one I have apparently isn't good enough. *sigh*
