  1. Display becomes pixelated and shaky if I hold down the pen tool for more than 4 seconds

I am having an issue with the pen tool when using it for a continuous stroke of longer than 4 seconds. The screen becomes pixelated, including the taskbar, until I let go of the pen or cursor. When connected to an external monitor it only affects the laptop screen and not the monitor. This only occurs when using the pen or pencil tool, not the highlighter or laser pointer, and not when using the multi-coloured pens, only standard colours. It occurs when using a stylus or finger on the touch screen or when using the mouse cursor if the window is on the laptop screen. If the window is on the exter

    Surface as a pen tool

I was wondering if there was a way to use my surface for it's pen tool and touch display but harnessing the rendering power of my desktop? basically using the surface as a wired or wireless second display with pen input.

  3. Second monitor appears pixelated sometimes

Before we get started, here might be some setup information that may be worth noting. My primary monitor is a 1080p, 1920 x 1080 (native) using an HDMI to DVI. My secondary monitor is a SONY TV 1360 x 768 (native) using an HDMI. Both are connected to my graphics card and not the motherboard. I have always had this setup but I have not always had this issue.

Preforming the following actions may cause my second monitor to appear pixelated.
    • Getting a web browser out of maximized mode by click dragging the window or using the restore button
    • Using full screen on the secondary monitor
    • Dragging a window into the second monitor, sometimes

In order to temporarily solve this issue I must apply a change to any display using the Nvidia Control Panel. Using the Windows display settings to apply a change does not always fix the issue. Also note that after the second monitor goes pixelated, my computer does not detect a change in any display's resolution settings.

So far I have tried the following fixes to no avail
    • Keeping display drivers up to date
    • Using a DDU to wipe display drivers clean and start anew
    • Using the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter

I have tried to use capture software to screenshot the pixelation but it can not see it. I have to use a camera to show what it looks like instead.

    After:

Capture software is not capable of detecting the pixelation so I have recreated what it looks like on screen. Use this as reverence if the pictures look bad.

    PEN TOOLS NOT WORKING

    Hi Deepender,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    1. What is the make and model of the Pen tool and the computer?
    2. What happens when you try to write?
    3. Are you aware of any recent changes made on the device prior to this issue?
    4. Which version of Windows is installed on your device?

Refer the article Which Windows operating system am I running to provide
    the details.

If you’re using the Microsoft Surface Pen, you may refer the article
    Troubleshoot Microsoft Surface Pen
for the troubleshooting steps. The same troubleshooting steps can also be implemented for the other pens as well.

    Hope it helps.
