  1. Display brightness is reset to 50% whenever I restart my laptop - Windows 10 Version 1809

    Hi all

After updating to Windows 10 Version 1809 on my Lenovo laptop, the display brightness is always reset to 50% whenever I restart the laptop. By the way, the brightness setting which should locate at the bottom of the Control Panel is gone. The screenshots are attached below. I tried updating the Intel graphics driver and the NVIDIA graphics driver but this did not work.

  2. Unable to Change Screen Brightness of Laptop

So I'm not sure how long this has been happening but for some reason, I can't change the brightness on my laptop screen. I have linked a picture and as you can see, my brightness says 0% and that I can't change it, however my actual brightness is at 100%. I have looked around everywhere and the only responses I have found don't work for me. Here's a list of everything I have tried:
    - Reinstalling Display Drivers
    - Rolling Back Display Drivers
    - Reset Settings on UWT4
    - Power and Battery Settings
(UWT4 or Ultimate Windows Tweaker 4 is a customizer for Windows 10 and I thought that might be the problem but it wasn't)

If anyone has any suggestions on how to fix this, it's greatly appreciated! Thanks! -

  3. Can not control the laptop brightness

    Hi Dinh,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience you are facing currently.

I would appreciate if you can provide us the following information to help us understand the issue better.

What happens when you try to change the screen's brightness?

For a majority of laptops, there isn't a control for setting the contrast. However, you can set the brightness of many laptops by pressing and holding the Fn key, and then pressing a function key to decrease brightness
    or increase brightness.

I suggest you to uninstall the display driver from your computer and then install in Compatibility mode.

To uninstall the driver follow the steps given below.

    • Press Windows key + X and select
      Device Manager.

    • Search for Display Adapter
      and expand it.

    • Right click on the Display Adapter
      and select Uninstall.

    • Do not restart your computer.
Once you have successfully uninstalled the driver, please install the driver in compatibility mode following the steps given below.

Make older programs compatible with this version of Windows

    (Applies to Windows 10)

Hope the information helps. Please let us know if the issue persist and we will be happy to assist you further.

  4. Display brightness is reset to 50% whenever I restart my laptop - Windows 10 Version 1809

    Display brightness after Creators Update

Windows 10 Education editions are currently designed to set the screen brightness to 50% during every log on. We’ve heard your feedback and are investigating this system behavior.

You can use these steps to prevent Windows 10 Education from automatically resetting the brightness to 50%:

    • Search for Task Scheduler in Cortana. Right-click the result and select
      Run as administrator.
    • In the left pane in Task Scheduler, navigate to
      Microsoft > Windows > Display > Brightness.
    • In the right pane, Double-click BrightnessReset to open Properties for the task.
    • Click the Triggers tab.
    • Select the “At log on” trigger and click the
“Edit…” button to open the edit page.
    • The Enabled radio button at the bottom of the page should be checked. Click on the radio button to clear it.
    • Click OK on the Edit trigger page and then click
      OK on the Properties page.
