Display driver crash when time spy - only when i turn on monitor from

Hi. I tried to reproduce 2 times display driver crash. When i run 3dmark time spy stress test. I turn off monitor and then turn on again it will stop test and display TDR crash report in event viewer. Is this reason to worry? This happened 2 times when i turn off montor and turn on back. I tried to reproduce this more than 2 times, and no crash. Yes test will stop , but no TDR driver crash. Weird.

    PC: 6700K stock
    16GB DDR4
    Asus Z170-P
    Corsair 750 RM
1080 Ti Fe stock No oc.Screen from event viewer:

When i tried to reproduce driver crash i cant. It happened only 2 times.Any ideas why it crashed driver only 2 times during this? Why it doesn't happen everytime? ( TDR )

My monitor: iiyama red eagle g-master gb2488hsu-b3

If i dont turn off monitor test will run non stop even 24 hours without crash.Monitor is display port to DVI.

    :)

  2. Dual monitors locked taskbar and open windows move when display turned off

    I have dual monitors a Samsung S27C750 and a Samsung C32HG70.

My graphics card is Radeon R9 270X GAMING 4G, latest driver is Version 17.8.2, Release Date 08/30/2017.

The open windows one on each monitor, move to the monitor that has been selected "make this my main display".

Also the taskbar tends to move to the Main display, but only if the active window is on that display, even if it is locked.

The only way I can stop this moving of windows and taskbar is to change the "Turn off the display." to "Never"

This did not happen when I had Windows 7 installed on the PC.

Is there a way to turn of this Windows 10 feature, and still "Turn off displays" when I am away from the PC for extended time.

Windows 10 unstable in dual screen setup displayport + hdmi

I just changed my system from an intel i5 2500k to an amd r5 1600 and with almost the same hardware (only changed cpu, motherboard, ram and switched to a m2 ssd as windows drive) and windows version (freshly
resinstalled) windows crashes when I turn my displayport screen on again in dual screen setup with an hdmi screen.

    System Configuration:

Motherboard: MSI X370 gaming pro carbon

    BIOS: 7A32v17 (AGESA 1.0.0.6)

    CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600

    Memory: 16GB DDR4 3200 (G-Skill F4-3200C16D-16GVKB)

    GPU: MSI RX 480 gaming x 8GB

    VBIOS: 015.050.000.000

    GPU Driver: 17.7.1

    OS: Windows 10 Pro N x64 (15063.483)

    Steps to Reproduce:

    • Plug into gpu ports: BenQ XL2730Z @ displayport, Philips 273P3LPHES @ hdmi

    • turn on pc and displays, wait for windows login

    • turn off displayport display

    • turn on displayport display

    • what now happens: displayport display stays black (no signal), hdmi display turns black (no signal), pc unresponsive

    • after 10 - 20 seconds pc reboots automatically
    Expected Behavior:

displayport display should turn on normally without crashing the pc in dual screen setup

    Actual Behavior:

displayport display causes crash when turned on again

    Additional Observations:

Turning the hdmi monitor off and on does not crash windows even if displayport display is plugged in.

Unplugging the hdmi monitor and turning the displayport monitor off and on does not crash windows.

I used the exact same hardware and drivers before with an Intel i5-2500k and an Asrock Extreme 3 gen 3 without these issues. Windows and drivers were completely reinstalled though after switching to Ryzen.

Are you using a display port adapter?

  5. sure a display test can only be ran while the display is active. if the monitor is turned off then suppose it would reduce power to the display port maybe?

During test when i turned off monitor and turn back on 2 times, 2 times test stopped and driver crashed TDR. I tried to reproduce this more than 2 times , but no TDR crash. Yes test will stop, but no TDR driver crash. Is this reason to worry? So why only 2 times driver crashed?

    Why it doesn't happen everytime ( TDR ) ?

Just want to be sure if my gpu is fine.
So if sometimes TDR driver crash during turning on monitor and sometimes not crash , its not fault of hardware?
It doesn't happen everytime ( TDR ). One time yes, second not. Any ideas?

  11. I would say its because the display is being deactivated/reactivated during use. If a stress test doesnt force the error then there no actual fault as such. But I have seen flakey PSU's cause this sort of issue where the power to the GPU was slightly delayed making windows think this was the fault.

Its random. One time i run stress test ( 3d ) then turn on monitor, test will stop and flicker for 1 second and TDR driver crash in logs. Second time i run stress test ( 3d ) then turn on monitor again, test will stop but not flicker and not TDR driver crash in logs.
    Why i dont happen everytime ? ( TDR )

So i dont know if card is ok or not?

Id say stop turning ya monitor on and off during the test *Smile *Smile (bit of banter) but if thats the only time it happens id say it wont be faulty as such buyt keep eye out on the power side of things. Take a few USB's out or any other bits that arent needed for it to run just as a test. What PSU watt do you have?

If sometimes TDR driver crash during turning on monitor and sometimes not crash , its not fault of hardware?
