Windows 10: Display Freezes

Hello! I've been having an issue with my pc and I'm a little lost. I've been having this inconsistent issue where my display freezes at certain points, but I can still move my mouse and hear everything. I'm forced to do a force shut down to clear up the freeze. The issue started while in a overwatch game when my display suddenly locked up for about 5 seconds then cleared itself up. Then it started happening when I would load into my first league game of the day. Every other day or so, my first league game will cause the freeze when I load into the game. Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
What happens?
If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
What X1800XT model do you own exactly?

ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps:

If you see the black screen or have a flickering screen follow the steps given below:

• Try connecting to different video outputs on the PC. Sometimes a change in driver can cause the video to be sent:
  

• To a different Adapter: from integrated graphics to a discrete card or vice versa.
  
• To a different output: from HDMI to DVI, DisplayPort to VGA, or any other combination.
  

• Try to boot into Safe Mode with Networking or Enable low-resolution video.

• Advanced boot options, Safe　Mode with Networking, or Low Resolution Video
• Check Device Manager and look　for Display Adapters

• If you see 2 items under Display Adapters, disable to integrated video card (e.g. Intel HD 4000 or AMD Radeon HD 4200) and restart. (try vice versa if it does not work) 　　
  
• If you see 1item under Display Adapters, rollback the driver or uninstall the display　adapter in Device Manager, and enable the option to delete driver software.
  

Check the PC or display adapter manufacturer’s site for an updated driver.
