    Display Freezing After Windows Update


    My screen is freezing whenever I update my display driver

    All programs are running in the background except the screen hangs


    The freezing stops when I use old display driver version Nvidia 388

    But when I have a windows update or update the driver higher than Nvidia driver version 390+

    the screen hangs



    SPECS:

    Predator 15 g9-593 laptop

    GTX 1070 i7 16gram


    Ive tried:

    • clean installation of windows
    • cleaned drivers DDU & also tried installing in safe mode
    • Set things to maximum performance, PCI Express off, fast start-up off
    • Cleaned my fans/ repasted thermal paste

    • Disk install via device manager

    • Updated BIOS

    • Done memory & disk check, no errors found

    • hardware troubleshooter

    • Disabled TdrDelay

    • Updated all chipsets

    Windows Vista Wont Install Freezes?

    had the same problem, freezes and long installation including each step loading, in my case a bios update helped.

    all games crash!

    ive watch my temps and both the cpu and gpu are within normal ranges. when it freezes it simply freezes the image and stops the sound. i must reboot to get back to windows.

    I suggest you run rthdribl > http://www.daionet.gr.jp/~masa/archives/rthdribl_1_2.zip
    Increase the window size step by step and watch your vga temps permanently.
    What happens?
    If it crashes, run at stock speeds as suggested before and retry.

    P.S.: When your system locks, does the display signal turn off after a time?
    Stuttering sound or no sound at all when freezing?
    What X1800XT model do you own exactly?
