  1. Display full location of a folder from search results

    Hello,

I have been searching through a lot of files lately, with a lot of similarly named folders turning up in the results. I need to know where the folder in the search results actually is. However, if I right click the folder in the search results and choose "Open in New Window", the folder is opened in a new windows and its contents is displayed.

However, the address bar shows the results as "Search Results in [Parent Folder] > [Search Result Folder]". If I click the "Up" arrow, it brings me back to the search results, not the immediate folder above it in the file structure. This is obviously not helpful behavior!

Is there a way to "truly" open the folder from the search results in another window, showing the real file location, but not loosing the search results?

    Thanks!

    :)

Windows 10 not displaying search results for indexed shortcuts in a folder.

    Thanks Deepika,

I had tried running this troubleshooter before, but I've just run it again with "Files don't appear in search results" and "My problem isn't listed above" ticked, and it comes up with "Issue not present" against all potential issues, and "Troubleshooting
couldn't identify the problem", even after troubleshooting as an administrator.

I'd be glad of any other suggestions please!

Display full location of a folder from search results

Vista Ultimate - 'User' Folder Location

    No tried that.

Can copy the entire folder to D; but Windows still points to C as the location. Can change personal folders location to a folder on D;, but this still leaves hidden files etc on C;. Thus meaning there are 2 Users folders. Have managed to change the Public folder location to D;, with some registry tweaks, but this doesnt seem to work for the entire folder.

    any more suggestions
