Display inexplicably switches to "Landscape Flipped" when plugging in or unplugging a monitor

Having an issue with my Dell Inspiron 7630 when plugging into an LG IPS QHD monitor; for reasons I can't figure out, my laptop will change to "Landscape Flipped" almost every time I either plug the monitor in or unplug it. The intermittency of the issue just adds to the frustration, it does it probably 3 times out of 5, not every time. Sometimes it does it when I plug the monitor in but not when I unplug, sometimes vice versa, sometimes both, sometimes neither. Rotation lock is and has been turned on in the display settings. Currently have display scale set to 225%, I need to install the 202

    :)

    Hi Xyman2,

    Welcome post in Microsoft Community.

I'm Mosken, I do apologize for the inconvenience that you're experiencing right now, let me help you sort things out.

According to your description, I knew that you set your screen to Landscape(flipped), but you find that only the current screen flips. If my understanding is wrong, please correct me in the reply.

From your description, I presume you have at least two screens (the computer's own monitor and an external monitor), and you want to flip your external monitor, but when you flip it, only the main screen (the computer's own monitor) is flipped, and the second screen did not respond.

In the Windows settings, you can set the flip of the external screen, but you need focuse on the screen that you want to setup, as shown in the figure below, click "1" or "2", and the next operation will take effect on this screen.

The above steps are provided based on the information I have learned so far, I wish that will be helpful to you. If your problem still cannot be solved by these steps, please tell me more specific situation in the next reply. I will continue to assist you in solving the problem.

    Inexplicable restarts

Thanks for your patient help and analysis, zbook. I'll step through some of your suggestions over the next few days - there's a lot to do and some look a bit hairy! That is, for a PC that is working sweetly right now...

Meanwhile, as requested in the BSOD thread (sorry, I misunderstood and posted there by mistake), I've attached both ZIP files.

One step I did try right away was to answer your question about whether my BIOS is up-to-date. I had no success at the AMI site but did get some info from this commercial site:

It was one of the '9' (I counted 10) listed here:
