    Display names changed to \\.\DISPLAY5, 6, 7 from 2, 3 4 - Why?


    I have four displays attached to my machine and they used to be called \\.\DISPLAY1, \\.\DISPLAY2, \\.\DISPLAY3 and \\.\DISPLAY4 but now they are called \\.\DISPLAY1, \\.\DISPLAY5, \\.\DISPLAY6 and \\.\DISPLAY7. I don't know when or why the change happened. I'm working on getting an AutoHotKey script to function which depends on the names so I really need them to not change. Can I determine the cause and/or stop them from changing?

    Screen auto dims on Windows 10.

    Go to Settings, then

    2: Personalization

    3: Lock Screen

    4: Screen Saver Settings

    5: Change Power Setting

    6: Change Plan Setting , on which ever plan your on.

    7: Change Advance Power Setting

    8: Display

    9: Dimmed display brightness, change this in percentage.

    10: Apply and then Ok out.

    7- Changing out hard drives to a solid state drive. prefer to do a clean install.
