Windows 10: Display not working after W10 Reset

Good evening, everyone I have an older laptop, HP Envy 17, which came with W8 but I upgraded to W10 It has been disturbing, being very slow so I did a reset on it. It couldn’t carry out the reset, after it went through the whole process, it just said failed then returned everything back. However, the desktop has now refused to load saying the “Desktop is not Available” Access Denied. The screen is just black with no toolbar, nothing. If I do CTRL DEL, I can get to the restart buttons and all. I tried clean rest with the recovery CDs I had made then and also with a downloade

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

This issue can occur due to corrupted/incompatible display drivers on the computer. So I would like you to follow the steps:



I suggest you to update the graphics card drivers/display drivers from manufacturer website and check if it resolves the issue.

• 
  Open Device Manager
  
• 
  Expand ‘Display Adapter’.
  
• 
  Locate the Mice and other pointing drivers.
  
• 
  Right-click on the display card listed and click on ‘Update Driver Software’
  
  If issue still persists, I would suggest you to install the drivers in compatibility mode and check if it works.
  
  Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:
  

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select operating system from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.

W10 -Display and reset data usage

W8 offered a display of device data usage when connecting to internet [and it could easily be reset to 0] but can't find this on W10. Surely the have not scrapped this! Is there another means of doing this?

Hi,

I understand the above solution didnt work so as to next step in solving your issue I suggest you follow the below.

Step 1:

Go to search box next to Windows icon and type Device Manager

Step 2:

Under Device Manager expand Display Adapter

Step 3:

Right-click on Adapters listed one by one and select Properties

Step 4:

Select the Drivers tab

Step 5:

Click on Uninstall Device

Step 6:

Repeat step 3 to 5 for all listed adapters under Display Adapter

Step 7:

Restart PC and verify
