Hi, I just upgraded my setup with a few new displays on PC. idle power consumption higher with SATA hot plug enabled

The idle power consumption of my ASUS B560 board increases from 9W to 16W as soon as I enable SATA hot plug for one port in BIOS. Unfortunately I would need this feature for several internal SATA devices (HDD swap racks, backup disks, etc.)

    Any ideas to
    • reduce idle consumption when SATA hot plug is enabled OR
    • mount devices manually without that BIOS option? (devcon rescan is not sufficient)

    Regards

    Thomas

Rear audio ports always show as “Not plugged in”

I've been having this issue with Windows for about a week now which NONE of the back panel/front panel connectors (speakers, microphone) are being recognized by Realtek audio manager. The only audio input/outputs that are showing are the optical.
Troubling shooting steps I've tried (none worked):

    • COMPLETELY uninstall all Realtek drivers/reinstall
    • Tried using windows drivers
    • Reinstall Windows 10
    • Upgraded chipset driver
    • sfc /scannow
I called EVGA and asked for RMA but then I booted into a Ubuntu OS and all the ports work FINE. It must be a problem with windows 10.
Can you think of any other troubling shooting step I can try to fix this annoying issue? Thanks!

After looking in Device Manager under Audio inputs and outputs, I don't see any speaker/microphone listings, only the optical crap:

    Possible to hot-plug Samsung SSD?

"Possible to hot-plug Samsung SSD? " … Yes.

However, what you want to do is make sure you enable Hot Plug (Gigabyte boards) in the BIOS. If not you could run into problem where the drive isn't recognized until a re-boot. If Hot Plug is enabled, you re-booting is required. This should also eliminate any data corruptions.

On Gigabyte boards you'd go SATA And RST Configuration

Then chose the port and Enable Hot Plug

Exit the BIOS and save. Simple. I use to hot plug drives all the time on both HDD and SSD drives. And yes, this was with Samsung SSD drives.
