Display port issue with Asus MB...

Well, I finally got around to do further testing...

The motherboard and the cables are just fine with a 24" Dell monitor, connected via DP interface. Doing so confirmed that the BenQ monitor's DP interface died, just couple of month after the warranty expired. The HDMI interface still working, but may go soon to sleep with the fishes...

Large monitors are still pricey, I'll try a 40" 4K UHD TV next week. With the motherboard and Intel UHD 630 specification, I don't see why it would not work.

About two month ego, I've built an Intel system with:
    • ASUS Prime Z370-A LGA 1151
    • Intel Core i5-8500 Coffee Lake 6-Core 3.0 GHz
    • BenQ 32" LCD monitor
The PC has Windows 10 Pro, 64-bits, v.1709. The monitor had been connected to the Display Port (DP) and has been working just fine until couple of days ego.

The PC booted fine, but the the monitor displayed "No video signal available..." or something similar and went to power saver mode. Unplug/plugin the DP cable on both ends did not bring back the display, same result. Replacing the DP cable with a new one did not bring back the display either, same error message displayed. It's possible that both DP cables are bad, but it's unlikely.

Plugged in an HDMI cable and that works, currently the PC running with that just fine.

What are the likeliness that the Asus motherboard developed a bad DP port? And if it's not unusual, what are the chances that the HDMI port will die as well?

Obviously the monitor, that's 3-5 years old, also could have the the DP port dead. I am in the process of testing BenQ monitor with another PC with DP port and test the new PC with another monitor with DP port.

Is there any chances that the i5-8500 CPU (UHD Graphics 630) had the DP circuit die? It's unlikely, but it is a distant possibility.

And yes, I could always add a video card as a last result, but prefer not to. This is an office PC with no requirement for video card.

    :)

Cannot change color profile for display no 2

Thank you for the details that you've provided. There may be a compatibility issue involved that kept on causing issue with the color profile. As we research further, since Asus PD287Q is using the display port and LG IPS 236VX is using the HDMI port, this
may be contributing to the color profile issue. We suggest that you try to use the HDMI port as well on your ASUS PD287Q to balance both monitors and see if there will be any changes.

    Please get back to us.

Remote Desktop Issue - Remote computer reboots !

    Thanks Kem

All 3 did not show an issue

The MB is Asus P7P55D LE

Asus Australia website has no drivers for Win-10

    http://www.asus.com/au/supportonly/P7P55D LE/HelpDesk_Download/

    So I did the following:

    Disconnected the ethernet cable

Installed a PCIe WiFi adapter and connected via Wifi

Made the appropriate changes in the router (port forwarding etc)

Remote Desktop now works correctly with RDP file

So it appears the issue maybe with the ethernet port or cable

Will investigate further when time permits

You might try........unplug your monitor from the wall or UPS system if you use one.....leave it unplugged for at least two minutes so that all electricity can drain from all the capistors in the monitor.........also unplug your computer and allow it to sit for at least two minutes.....

Then hook up your DP cable and power up both the monitor and the computer and see it that solves the problem........if not

You will have to try a different monitor and if that is not the problem you will have to deal with the ASUS RMA system.....

    Hope this helps you out......

    Thanks...

I was hoping too... Unfortunately, it didn't work; even with both the PC and monitor were without power for 5-10 minutes.

I'll try other monitor or PC, prior to getting an Asus RMA; wonder, if Asus does cross-shipment...

I wonder if it's something as simple as having the monitor stuck on the HDMI input rather than seeking which one is active.

There should be a control on the monitor that allows you to step through the inputs, I suggest that you give that a try.

It's an obvious thing, but as you didn't say that you tried it...

Display port issue with Asus MB...

I would start a chat with Asus during the day, let them tell you what to do and how to do it.

It sounds like you`ll need to start an RMA *Sad
