Windows 10: Display Resolution and Scale are correct, Looks zoomed in

I've checked the display resolution and the scale in the display settings of my PC and on my graphics card, the resolution matches my monitor, 1280 by 800, and the scale is set to only 100%, however the display is cutting off alot of the screen near the edges, it all looks zoomed in. I've checked and my monitor settings don't have anything to fix this, and I only have one monitor connected.

Second monitor is zoomed in, scaling grayed out

One of my employees is having issues with a second monitor that is zoomed in and scaling for that monitor in Display Settings is disabled. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the graphics card, tried resetting the resolution on the second monitor, tried changing the screen refresh rate to 59Hz, installed all pending updates, had the employee unplug the monitor, restart her computer, then plug the monitor back in and I also had the employee check her physical monitor settings.

We looked for checkpoints on the computer but there are none. The employee informed me that before the monitor zoomed in, she simply shut down her computer and when she booted it back up, the monitor was zoomed in so much she is unable to use it.

I have attempted every troubleshooting step I can think of and I am unable to resolve the issue. My main concern is that scaling is disabled in Display Settings. If I could find a way to enable scaling, I think I could resolve the issue.

 

Monitor is detected but display resolution is not correct


One of two possibilities:

1. Driver is still not correct, as you don't have the listed resolution to go to recommended for that monitor. If it is using a driver win 10 installed and not the manufacturer, then you need to try the manufacturer driver, list the display driver from device manager and we can go from there.

2. Card in PC (Is it a card, or integrated mainboard graphics?) doesn't support that resolution, hence driver not listing it, etc.

Other possibility - what does the system show for the monitor listed in device manager?

It is very important to have the correct resolution settings in your Windows PC as it provides better display and clarity. To better assist you, please answer the following questions:

• Which Windows 10
  build is installed in your system?
• Have you updated the driver?

In the meantime, you can also change the Screen resolution settings manually by:

• Going to Settings > System.
• Click Advanced Display settings > Display adapter properties.
• Click List All Modes.

Note: The display scaling and screen resolution also depends on physical size of your PC display and its resolution, and in most cases it is best to leave the settings at their default values.
