Windows 10: display resolution issue

ok so ive looked ofr answers everywhere and tried a variety of things like removing drivers and re instaling them and making sure my graphics driver is up to date etc. nothing is working. my problem is this. when my computer boots up while connected to my big tv (48" samsung plasma. the max resolution windows 10 lets me go to is 1280 x 720 however and heres the wierd bit. if i boot my pc up with my smaller bog standard 24" tv it goes right up to 1920 x 1080 px and then if i just switch the hdmi cable round my big 48" is forced into 1920 x 1080 px also. however i cannot for the life of me find a way to make my pc default go to this resolution with my big tv connected from boot up. so basically everytime my pc is shut down i have to boot with smaller tv hen switch hdmi just so i can get bigger resolution. also a big issue is that when my big tv is locked out of the 1920 x 1080 px resolution my sound doesnt come through tv also. so to use my big tv i muist allways have this little portable ready to boot my pc up with just so i can get sound and bigger resolution. ( the problem also impacts games aswell because it like makes even the lowest demanding game glichy as ****. and like i said ive reinstalled drivers and all sorts i really dont think its a driver issue. it just hates booting up with a big tv.

Windows 10 desktop resolution issue

I understand the inconvenience that you are unable to change the screen resolution, we will help you with this issue.

I suggest you to update the Display Adapter Drivers

Step 1: Update the Display Adapter driver.

• Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.
• Select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter.
• Right on the Display Adapter and click on
  Update driver software.

Step 2: Please follow the below steps to change the resolution of the screen and check:

• Type Change screen resolution in the Search
  box from the desktop.
• Under Resolution search for the Recommended resolution and click on
  Apply.
• A windows pops up saying "Keep these display settings", then select
  Keep changes.

I would like to inform that, there will be a recommended resolution for all the computers, and if you select more than the recommended resolution the screen would not support for that.

Display resolution keeps changing

Hi Rick,

It might be caused by a faulty driver that's why your display resolution keeps changing. We
suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the display driver, see steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• For graphics cards, expand the Display adapters category, right click your graphics card and select Uninstall.
• Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
