    Display resolution issues

    Hi all

At my wits end! I came home yesterday to find my screen resolution had altered presumably during an automatic update or alternatively a power cut.

I have a 24 inch monitor which handles a 1920 x 1080 resolution. The maximum showing on the device manager display tab is 1600 x 1200. Result: text slightly stretched and blurry and obviously everything at a lower resolution.

-The monitor's software keeps telling me that the non-optimal resolution is being used which suggests the monitor is OK.

-Via the device manager box, I have tried updating the drivers, rolling back the drivers and re-installing AMD Radeon R5 to no effect.

-Via the AMD website I have downloaded and installed new drivers to no effect

-I have uninstalled the AMD Radeon and run it with just the basic display drivers, to no effect.

The only thing I can see "not right" is that, in the events log, it says "amdkmdag had a problem" although this only appeared each time I have updated the drivers, and the resolution issue was already there by then - so no idea if this is relevant or not.

I've spent hours looking for solutions online and it always appears to lie in re-installing the drivers but this has not worked for me.

    Any help much appreciated!

Running Windows 10, HP desktop 16 months old.

    Display resolution keeps changing

    Hi Rick,

It might be caused by a faulty driver that's why your display resolution keeps changing. We
suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the display driver, see steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Device Manager.
    • For graphics cards, expand the Display adapters category, right click your graphics card and select Uninstall.
    • Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
