Windows 10: Display resolution keeps changing automatically!

TD:LR In the title Hi all, I am close to my wit’s end. Every time my laptop wakes up from sleep mode, there’s a high chance that the display settings changes to the lowest resolution. I have to manually change it back to it’s recommended resolution.

Sometimes my laptop just shows a black screen, I can still hear videos if I press spacebar(on Yt) but the screen is black and I have to force restart my laptop.

I searched online and it states that my drivers are outdated. I tried to update but both my Intel and NVIDIA drivers are at it’s latest. I tried using the automatic driver checks for both Intel and Nvidia and both either said the former states that there are no updates while the latter kept prompting me to download the latest Java which I have already done(tested on both Chrome and Firefox) and results are still the same.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Display resolution keeps changing

Hi Rick,

It might be caused by a faulty driver that's why your display resolution keeps changing. We
suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the display driver, see steps below:

• Press Windows key + X and click on
  Device Manager.
• For graphics cards, expand the Display adapters category, right click your graphics card and select Uninstall.
• Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

Display Resolution - automatically change

I have a Lenovo Yoga C940 2-in-1. Is there a way to automatically change the display resolution (or the size of text, apps…) when switching between laptop mode and tablet mode? I like a higher resolution in laptop mode and larger text size for my fingers in tablet mode. Seems like it could be a common desire. Thanks in advance.

I suggest you to update the Display Adapter Drivers

Step 1: Update the Display Adapter driver.

• Press Windows key + X key when you are at desktop.
• Select Device Manager.
• Expand Display Adapter.
• Right on the Display Adapter and click on
  Update driver software.

Step 2: Please follow the below steps to change the resolution of the screen and check:

• Type Change screen resolution in the
  Search box from the desktop.
• Under Resolution search for the Recommended resolution and click on
  Apply.
• A windows pops up saying "Keep these display settings", then select
  Keep changes.
