  1. Display stutters when I change the refresh rate to 165hz

Hello guys,I have had this issue for quite a while. I don't know if it's because of an update or what's the problem.I run a dual-display setup:-ACER VG270v 165hz-1080p-ACER VG 270v 144hz-1080pGPU: Radeon 5700xtCPU: Ryzen 5 5600xWhen I try to change my refresh rate for the primary monitor to 165hz it has a strange glitch in the bottom part of the screen. I've used a DP 1.2 until now, and I bought a HDMI 2.1 thinking it was the cable. It worked fine until 2 or 3 months ago.Any suggestions?Thank you in advance.

    :)

  2. Refresh rate Problem

    Hi Robert,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

Screen refresh rate is the rate at which the data displayed on screen is refreshed; it may be an image or some text document. Most of the users would like to set it to a higher rate but this also depends on the capacity of graphic
card and monitors. If the refresh rate is slow, the images on the display looks as flickering to the user eye and makes it uncomfortable to work.

Nowadays the latest monitors available in market will have minimum 60 Hz of refresh rate and it is very good option to set it to 70 Hz if you your monitor is compatible. Normally a high performance or quality monitors can reach
120 Hz of refresh rate. So I would suggest you to set your monitor refresh rate as higher as possible, below given steps describes how to access this feature on your Windows 8.1/10 PC.

    • The default refresh rate setting is 60 Hertz (HZ); however, your monitor may support a higher setting. Check your manufacturer's documentation for information about the settings that your monitor supports.
    • If you use a higher refresh rate, you can reduce the rate that your screen flickers; however, if you specify a refresh rate that is too high for your monitor, your screen may become unusable and your hardware may be damaged.
    • Changes to the refresh rate affect all users that log on to the computer.
I would, as of now, suggest you to visit the computer manufacturer's support website and install the latest display and chipset drivers available for the latest operating system (currently it would be 8.1 in the list).

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.

My monitor keeps changing the refresh rate on reboot

Hey, so I recently got a new monitor (acer ei322qur) and when I first used it, I set the refresh rate to 165hz in the Windows settings (under System -> Display ->Advanced Graphic Options -> Refresh rate) but when I rebooted my PC it was back at 60hz. Does anybody know why?

    Refresh Rates Do Not Display

What are you referring to by 'older system ? Graphics processor; monitor, or both ?

What brand and model graphics processor does your machine have ? Have you tried selecting the refresh rate

via the gpu's Control Panel settings ?

Are you having a problem with a game or video, or general Windows visuals ?

Normally if you are using a 60Hz monitor the graphics driver will default the refresh rate to 60Hz.

If your monitor is capable of running 165Hz refresh rate (must be if this option is shown) and your gpu is not capable of

running a game over 60 fps it does not generally matter if your monitor is not set to run a 60 Hz refresh rate.

    - Having said that, all refresh rate options should still be available in both Windows Desktop or gpu Control Panel options if the

    gpu driver is not corrupted.
