Windows 10: Displaylink network adapter ncm not working after Windows 10 upgrade to 1803

Hi


Upgraded from Windows 10 1703 to 1803 on Friday and sinve then "Displaylink network adapter ncm" have failed.


Device status = "Windows is still setting up the class configuration for this device. (Code 56)"




I have uninstalled Displaylink as I know understand it is built into Windows itself but does not help.

Have also tried cleaning it out with "DisplayLink Installation Cleaner 8.4.2368.exe" and reinstalling with "DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Windows 8.6 M0.exe" (downloaded from Displaylink) but not more luck with those.

Have now left the laptop with Displaylink uninstalled and using Windows drivers where all like monitors, keybord, mouse etc. work but not network so have plugged an extra cable directly to the laptop as a workaround.


How can I get this working?
(my company have disabled MS feedback so cant report this from the OS in Feedback hub...)


According to logs it seem to say driver dlcdcncm.inf_amd64_3e34ae9ebcd6c189 is used.

I hav ethe same Problem on the Device Manager every think seems to be ok.

DisplayLink Network Adapter NCM - latest driver, is working.

But I cannot go to the internet by connecting the cabel. Everything else is working fine.

Software of today.

We understand your concern suggest you to perform the following methods and check:

Method 1:

Run the Network Troubleshooter and check if that helps.Here is the steps:

• 
  Click on Start button and type
  Troubleshoot and select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Click on Network and Internet, click on
  Network Adapter.
  
• 
  Follow the onscreen instructions.
  

Method 2:

Update the Network Adapter driver. Here is the steps:

• 
  Press Windows+X key on your desktop and select
  Device Manager.
  
• 
  Locate Network drivers, expand, right click and click
  on Update.
  
  If it doesn’t help, then I would suggest you to
  uninstall and re-install the Network Adapter drivers
  in compatibility mode. Here is the steps:
  

• Go to your manufacturer’s website
  and download the Driver’s setup file for your computer.
• Press Windows Key + R on your desktop screen to go to run box.
• Type devmgmt.msc and hit Enter.
• Under Driver, expand, then right click and select
  Uninstall.
• If you are prompted to Confirm then Confirm.
• Go to the location where you had saved your downloaded setup files of the drivers and
  right click, then select Properties.
• Select Compatibility Tab.
• Place a check mark next to Run this program in Compatibility mode and select the operating system accordingly from the drop down list.
• Let the driver to install and then check the functionality.

DisplayLink Network Adapter NCM not working after Windows 10 upgrade

I have exactly the same issue. Upgrading to the latest drivers from the DisplayLink web site did not help.

The same DisplayLink dock worked perfectly under Windows 8.1 :-(

As per above Device Manager shows that the driver is loaded and appears to be working correctly it's just not showing up in Networking and Sharing. The other functions of the dock are working correctly.

Any other ideas on how to fix this would be appreciated.
