Windows 10: .dll and.mui files accumulating in Temporary Files reported by Mcafee and not being removed.

The count is now over 1500 of these files reported using Tracker Remover from McAfee, McAfee is not removing them. What are they, can I remove them, where are they stored really, will they continue appearing?They weren't appearing until the January Cumulative update I believe.

You could suggest Brink adds mui to this tutorial:

From that you could check and compare the content of e.g. the txt reg file which I used as a basis for the above in case I missed something.

Thank you so much!! The first image was set for Resource Hacker & as soon as I deleted the value for mui, the icons change back to white & they don't have an associated app to open, so that did it.

I went through the other images & also removed the "OpenWith" option...although I suppose I could have left it.

Remove association for .mui files

I was trying to open C:\Windows\System32\en-US\shell32.dll.mui with Resource Hacker & it kept saying it couldn't find the file (even though I dragged it into the resource window). In playing around with it, I accidentally made Resource Hacker the default for opening .mui files (I don't know what was the default, if any, before).

I used File Types Manager to go to .mui file types. Double clicked it to bring up the Edit screen. Removed Resource Hacker (from the command line) & clicked the 3 horizontal dots:



to bring up the next screen.


& clicked Detach File Type. However, it didn't give me the option to say "ok".
Now, all the .mui files have the Resource Hacker icon & double clicking opens the .mui file. How can I put it back the way it was before I screwed up?
