Windows 10: DLL is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error

Hello microsoft support . I am having issues with one of the workstation computers that is part of the network that I run. The issue is that whenever I try to open Sonicwall NetExtender (a VPN client) i get an error that says "C:\windows\system32\rasman.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0x0000020." All of my research has indicated that this is an issue with a registry file used for remote services. I'll start with what I have done and maybe one of you fine ladies or gentlemen can help me out. The system is Windows 10.


What I Have Done:

Run an SFC scan on the drive: The damaged file was not able to be repaired with this

Ran Startup Repair: Startup repair was not able to repair the file

Tried using a system restore point: I tried the last 5 restore points and windows was not able to restore any of them

Run Malware Bytes and CC Cleaner

Tried going back to previous windows 10 version (would not revert)

Tried going to one of those dll file download sites and replaced the corrupt file: i still got the same error


My last resort was Resetting the PC. I kept the personal files but as i'm sure you all know windows was reinstalled and all settings were reverted to factory. I thought that this would work for sure. I then installed Sonicwall NetExtender again and got the same message. I'm about one step from pulling out my hair haha. I tried about 4 different versions of the sonicwall netextender software as well to no avail.


If anybody has any suggestions i would definitely be open to trying anything. I am at my wits end with this situation and could really use the support of you tech gurus here at microsoft support. One side note, which i believe is either a coincidence or sabatoge is that my company let go their former IT team the day before this error started occuring for exorbitant billing (thats another story) and they took me on to handle their IT work and network administration. I have installed sonicwall netextender on all other workstations without any issues. I appreciate the help in advance. Thanks!

Since you are getting same error "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\MSVCR120.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error".

We suggest that you refer to this
thread as some customers are also having the same issue and try to check the suggested fix of Santosh_Rai.

I've just upgraded to Windows 10, but now when I try to open most Adobe programs an error like this shows.... "msvcp120.dll is either not designed to run on windows or it contains an error...". I've purchased dll file fixer, and it hasn't helped.
