DNS server issues w/ only one Wifi network

I've had issues accessing the internet for a while now, I've tried many steps of troubleshooting but none have worked and I'm not sure how to proceed. My PC can connect to my home's Wifi network, but the network shows "No internet access". This Wifi network has several other devices connected to it phones, my laptop, smart TV that have no trouble accessing the internet -- which would make me think that the problem lies with my PC. I tried connecting to my phone's hotspot to test if the same error occurs; my PC has no issues with internet access via the hotspot connecting to the hotspot via

    DNS server issues

I'm a student living in a student house. This is my current internet setup:

My laptop is connected to a wifi network generated by a Sitecom X8 AC1750 router. This router is connected to a UPC Technicolor TC7200 wifi modem downstairs via an ethernetcable. This setup has been working just fine for months now, until I come home one
day, I try to connect my laptop to the internet. I notice that the internet isn't working so I run a network troubleshooting and it gives me this message: Your DNS server might be unavailable. So I go onto the wifi network generated by the UPC modem instead
(which is working just fine, but it's a little slow) and google the error message.

    I follow the instructions on different articles and try all the solutions they suggest. What I've tried;

    • Restarting the router and modem (unplug for 10 sec and plug back in)
    • Flushing DNS with commandpromt
    • Resetting IP with commandprompt (netsh int ip reset)
    • Restoring the Sitecom X8 AC1750 router to factory default
    • Mannually entering DNS settings into TCP/IPv4 settings (tried googles 8888/8844 and an OpenDNS server)
    • Switching from the 2,4 Hz to the 5,0 Hz connection genereated by the Sitecom router
    • Installing all windows updates
I decided to sleep over it and try again the next day. Now when I run the Windows network diagnostics troubleshooter I don't get the message DNS server unavailable but this one:

Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (www.microsoft.com) is not responding.

I've also looked up this message, and it's basically giving me the same solutions as before. I don't know what to do anymore, so if anyone has some tips please help!

  3. DNS server suggestions.

    Hiya.

I need some suggestion on good DNS servers that I can connect to and not find myself with problems all the time, I've used FF, Chrome, Edge and Comodo Dragon but all seem to have issues especially with the DNS that I'm connected to.

I'm currently using the Google one, but if you know any good ones then please suggest it!

I've also read about having my own DNS server but that just seems as a big crambamboli.

And if you think that it's my internet that is having a stroke or something:

    DNS server causing problem

    Hi Andrea,

DNS is a server that translates websites' addresses so that browsers can connect to them. If the addresses become outdated or the server has issues, problems and DNS errors occur. For us to provide an accurate solution, we would need you to answer the following
    questions:

    • Which build, version and edition of Windows is installed on your computer?
    • What changes have you made to your device before this issue occurred?
    • Are you experiencing the same issue regardless if you are trying to be connected to a wired or wireless connection?

For initial troubleshooting, we suggest deleting the DNS cache. This can refresh the DNS files and settings on your PC. Follow these steps to delete the DNS cache:

    • Using Search type Command Prompt.
    • Form the search results, right click on Command Prompt (Desktop app) and then choose Run as administrator.
    • In the Command Prompt window, type ipconfig /flushdns and then hit the Enter key.
    • Once done, restart your computer and then check if the same issue persists.

We are looking forward to your response.
