  1. Do apps override the system volume on windows?

I hope this question makes sense. So if I have Edge open, and a video is playing, I don't have the ability to change the volume with the computer volume. I have to use the videos volume. And that is the same for any application that I am using, or any game that I'm playing. It doesn't matter what level my volume on the computer is, as long as it's not muted. If its at least 1. the volume on the application is what takes precedence. As a matter of fact, there really isn't any time that the computer volume is used. Like I said, if i have it on 0 muted then the apps will all be muted as well, b

  2. Something is overriding my sound volume

For the last month or so, something has been overriding my sound volume, at least when an application starts. The volume would be about 30-40 on my volume slider. To fix it, manually changing the volume (I use the function keys, but any changing of the
volume works) will make whatever it is play at the proper volume.

This happens most often for videos and games, since those are what I use most often, but it's not just that. System sounds are affected too, for example, such as the one where you try to backspace with nothing to delete. This isn't a major issue, but it's
starting to grate on me. Any suggestions?

Do apps override the system volume on windows?

Volume Mixer not showing muted app

The application was muted on Windows 10 with November update. Now I am using Anniversary update, on build 14393.10

The initial step did not help make Banished show up in the Volume Mixer, nor did the article.
