    Do deleted files get transfered with copy/paste or drag and drop?


    1. If I delete files from a folder and then drag and drop the folder to a new hard drive, will those deleted files get transfered to the new hard drive too? 2. If I copy and paste the folder to the new hard drive, will the result be any different?

    Hi Charles,

    the steps you suggested didn't work for me but, when pressing the escape key it somehow expanded the drive and by using drag and drop to the single file in the list worked.

    In the past I could drag and drop multiple folders onto the drive on the network computer(s). Doing it on individual folders will take far too long and time consuming and is not an option.

    Microsoft should be able to identify what is blocking it and issue a fix.

    My machine is multi boot so tomorrow I will try with Windows 7.

    Hi,

    I am Vinu, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you. I will try to help you with this issue.

    Drag and Drop will never delete the source file in case of Windows, it will copy the file to the new location, but also keeping the source in the card. But when you directly drag and drop to some other application, there is a risk, that application will not
    create a copy of your file, it might add your file in the card to a new project and directly start working on that.

    What I would suggest, in case of these important files is, first copy and paste them from your card to a folder in windows, say, working directory. Then add the files to other programs from there. Hope this helps.
