Windows 10: Do I need a Windows Live Account to use Windows Live Mail?

Title says it all. I've never needed one before as far as I know until I installed Windows 10 however.

There's no reason to consolidate all your various email accounts into your windows live account (unless you really want to do that). In Windows Live, you can also set up the outgoing email addresses and then when you send email from the Windows Live account
(using a computer), you can select the FROM address you want to use. However, this method does not work on a windows phone. On a windows phone, all your email that is sent from your Windows Live email will show your windows live email address in the FROM
address.

If you want to keep your email separate when you work with it on your phone, all you need to do is set up different email accounts on the phone. So you'll set up separate email accounts for each email address you plan to use on the phone. There's no need
to even use the windows live/hotmail address (for email) that is associated with the windows live account you use to store your addresses and appointments.

I am using Windows 10 and windows live mail. I have the same problem found recently and was glad to see the above "answer", but disappointed that the link ‘How
do I add an account to Windows Live Mail?’ does not give me anything but

"The Windows 10 free upgrade offer has ended."
Any help will be appreciated.

 

No, you can use any email address you want with the windows live mail that comes from windows essentials.
