    Do I need Intel Rapid Storage Technology on a 10 year old HP laptop?


    Hi everyone.I bought a HP Envy 15 laptop about 10 years ago and it is still going strong. It's quite a high-spec machine. Uses an intel CORE i7 etc.Anyway, my security scanners have picked out these system files as being a security risk. I am not able to update them via the Intel website, as my hardware is no longer supported there. I was considering un-installing it. So, do I need Intel RST on a Windows 10 machine? What will happen if I uninstall it?Any help you can provide would be great - does anyone from Microsoft know?Thanks!

    Thanks for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

    This issue might occur when the drivers are not updated properly.

    I suggest to download the latest Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver from manufacturer’s website and install it.

    Intel Rapid Storage Technology

    I have Windows 10 and the Hp Assistant recommended installing Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

    What does it do, exactly?

    What are Multi HD Systems that were spoken about in the community question/answers posed concerning the Intel Rapid Storage Technology?

    Why must I have this program when the Hp Envy Laptop is just for home use?

    Does this program use a lot of battery consumption? Since the install, my battery level decreases quite quickly.

    I have checked the battery via the HP Support and it is working fine.

    This computer is only 4 months old and the Hp Assistant is constantly wanting to install programs that I really know nothing about. I am afraid that I am installing programs that I don't really need.

    A lot of questions but thank you for your help.
