Windows 10: Do I need McAffee or Windows security is enough without it?

I recently bought a Lenovo laptop with windows 11. I was told that Windows defender is enough and no other antivirus is necessary. But now I see that Windows defender is replaced by Windows security which includes a commercial antivirus McAffee, which has just expired after a month's trial. Do I need to renew McAffee or get another antivirus? Or the other parts of windows security are enough?

Windows Defender and McAffee

sadly not...I uninstalled the programme but there is a second item listed in programmes which seems to be an empty file, just a banner for McAffee LIvesafe asking me to update my subscription. When I try to uninstall that I get a pop up asking which file
I want...but there is no option to highlight and nothing listed. I can't delete it through right click either. I've restarted twice and still have Defender saying I need to update Virus protection and Firewall through McAffee....

Wondering if I should install the McAffee uninstaller as someone suggested above??

 

Windows Defender and McAffee

Thank you so much...I started to uninstall McAffee, then thought I had better check Defender which pointed me back to McAffee for Firewall and Virus protection.

I'll take a leap of faith and uninstall hoping that Defender picks it up! Should I also sign into Account Protection for "enhanced Microsoft security"?

3 dumps point to 3 different device drivers:

• One blames McAffee.
• One Blames your NVIDIA Virtual Audio Driver
• The last one says your Intel WiFi network adapter

I suggest completely uninstalling McAffee and using
built in defender in its place for some time.

The next step would be completely uninstalling and reinstalling both the above said drivers.
