Windows 10: Do i need to change DPI scalling in compatibility tab for each game ?

It is best to check in compatibility tab to override DPI scalling and set it to: "by application". To avoid issues. It is just annoying to have to do that for each game. I have disabled option in setting/system/advanced scalling setting/fix scalling for apps. I am not sure if i need to go to compatiblity tab and set scalling override by application each time if this is disabled. If someone know that would be great.

Windows 10 Game Compatibility

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10!

There are some programs that need new definitions compatible with Windows 10. Till the time they are unavailable you can install the programs compatible with previous versions of operating system in compatibility mode. If you can access the executable (.exe)
file for the game, I would suggest you to follow the below provided steps:

Step 1: Download and save the game on the desktop.

Step 2: Install the game in compatibility mode.

• Right click on the .exe file, and click on Properties.
• Go to the Compatibility tab.
• Check the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for:
• Select Windows 8 (or any other compatible OS) in the list of Operating systems.
• Click OK.
• Double-click the executable file to install the game and follow the onscreen instructions.
• Reboot your computer.

Cannot find the compatibility tab on an exe. file

Is this a program or game ?

- If your are trying to find the Compatibility tab on a shortcut for a Steam game the reason there is no Compatibility tab

is because Steam (and I believe some of the other online retailers) use what they call a
Web Document as a Desktop shortcut.

It's also possible that a programs shortcut, created directly from the main executable (.exe) has no Compatibility tab, so in either

cases you would want to use the program/games main executable in the program/games install folder, rather than the shortcut.

- With old games this DPI option set to Application will centre the image on the screen properly.

The DPI option - System or System Enhanced can occasionally be helpful when text in a software's Window is too small.
