Is there a problem with my windows 10?

I recently upgrade my Nero 2014 Platinum to Nero 2018 Platinum. My Nero 2014 worked fine but 2018 has some new features I wanted to check out However when I installed 2018 it refused to work - well some of it worked but Nero Video and Nero Recode won't work
in that they will edit a video but I can't save it. I have been trying to resolve the issue with Nero for 3 weeks to no avail. They insist the program works fine and that it is my computer. I have sent them all the info they wanted about my system (NeroSupport.cab
file) but they still can't solve the problem and they now say it is a problem with Windows, yet I own Nero 9, Nero 10 and 2014 which all work perfectly on my computer which Nero make no attempt to explain why they do and Nero 2018 won't.

My computer is an AMD 6 core 3.3 GHz with 8GB RAM running Windows 10 Pro (the FREE upgrade from Windows 7) with all updates current and all my drivers are uptodate. I run AVG Ultimate with Advanced Firewall and my Nero 2014 has no problem with this. At the
suggestion of Nero support I turned off my AVG Ant-Virus and the firewall to see if it resolved the problem - it didn't. In order to try and resolve the issue I installed Nero 2017 (which I got with 2018 and which also refuses to work exactly the same as Nero
2018 on this computer) on an older 2.3GHz Celeron with 4 GB RAM running Windows 7 Pro and it works perfectly. So what do you think, is it a conflict with Windows 10, a settings issue or a hardware conflict with my AMD system? It makes no sense to me that my
old 2014 version works fine but the latest one won't work. Appreciate any help to solve this puzzle.

  3. Attempting to install Windows 10 - system keeps telling me to delete a program that is now deleted

I am attempting to download Windows 10. I received a message stating I need to uninstall Nero - burning Rom so I uninstalled Nero, rebooted, and looked to see if it was gone and it is. So I attempted to get Windows 10 again, however keep on getting the
same message although Nero is gone. Any ideas?

You could put them on an External USB 2.0 HDD/Hard Disk Drive if too large for a DVD. But then if you've changed the OS from Win8/8.1 or Win7 they may not be of much use except for extracting specific files. Make new ones with your current setup but may need an updated version of Nero.

Most people on the forum use Macrium Reflect Free for system imaging/backup. I uninstalled Nero Backup and use Reflect instead.

You don't say - are you still using Nero Live backup now? Or are these just left over from a time when you did?
Either way, you need to keep them if you think you may ever need to find an old document they contain. Copy them off the PC to a USB stick/DVD/USB hard drive. These Nero backup files play no part in running you system and can safely be deleted.

If you have stopped using Nero Live Backup, deleting is simple, however, if you are still running Nero Live Backup, apparently you have to stop it first according to this thread on the Official Nero Forum...

For readers of this thread not familiar with Nero Live Backup (or their BackItUp utility of which it is a part) here's a quick demo I found while looking up how Nero works...

and the manual for BackItUp can be found here.
    http://ftp6.nero.com/user_guides/ner...ItUp_en-US.pdf
Nero 2016 was the first version to claim support for Windows 10, though earlier versions went up to Windows 7/8, so may still work (DYOR).

The principle is that LiveBackup (BakItUp's 'easy' setting) makes a full backup of everything (including the OS) when you first turn it on, thereafter it makes scheduled incrementals. Backitup's unique feature is that after a while these incrementals will be merged to save space. The backup set it creates can either be used to restore a working system, or dipped into to recover old files and documents.

For @How1, the answer is that (assuming you have been running LiveBackup continuously from 2014 to this day) the backup set now contains a lot of changes made since you first turned Nero's backups on. No wonder it's so large. The simple answer, provided you are happy you'll never need any of the backed up documents dating from now back to 2014, is just to turn off LiveBackup, delete the backup files and turn LiveBackup back on. I'm afraid it appears you can't just delete parts of the backup set - it's all or nothing. Once deleted, LiveBackup (if you choose to continue using it) will only have backups dating back to today.

The more technically minded members of this forum would probably prefer to use something else as to back up their entire system. Macrium Reflect is the popular choice. If all you are concerned with is backing up your documents, then Windows 10 has its own easy-to-use File History option. See this tutorial for more details.

Well, if it is corrupt, then you won't be able to restore from the LiveBackup even if you wanted to *Wink

You shouldn't need to delete Nero itself to be able to delete the backup files. How big are they?

I assume (as you're complaining about space) they are on your PC. I'd be inclined to copy them to a USB memory stick first (if there's really a lot of data you may need several sticks, or even a USB external drive to hold them all) . You can do this with File Explorer. Just find the backup files, select them and click the 'Copy' button on File Explorer's ribbon (if you can't see the ribbon, click the 'Home' tab to display it). Now go to your USB and click 'Paste'. Then you can just delete the backup files from your PC, they are not needed for you to be able to use your PC.

NB: a USB memory stick usually comes pre-formatted as FAT32. If any of your files are larger than 4GB you can't copy them to a FAT32 drive. If that is the case, reformat the USB (you'll loose all existing files on it) as NTFS or exFAT, both can handle files larger than 4GB. USB hard drives usually come formatted with NTFS.)

Now to Nero itself. Do you use any of the other Nero utilities? Do any of the others even work? Try Nero SmartStart (their basic jumping off point to launch all the other apps).

Nero is supplied as a suite of programmes. It comes in two types, either the full paid-for suite, or a stripped down basic set (often pre-installed by you PC manufacturer) called Nero Essentials. Do you know what you have? The easiest way to find out is to type Apps and features in the search box next to start then run it to go to the settings page. There I see on my PC 'Nero Multimedia 10 Suite Essentials', so I have Nero 10 Essentials (the free basic one, courtesy of Toshiba who made my PC). It all seems to still work with Windows 10, even though it it's a six year old version.
