    Do i need to run the System File Checker everytime before I update?


    For some background i first noticed an issue when my windows was not updating and giving me an error. After asking this community, they recommended I do this. I also had issues with my brightness control, while logged on my brightness would not change and once the computer would restart or shut down the last brightness level was shown. I reset my computer, deleting all files and a fresh install but the updates and brightness issue persist. How can i avoid the update issue?

    Running System File Checker

    I am using Feature Update 1909 updated from 1903 which was used for the original installation. When running system file checker (sfc /scannow), should the installation dvd for 1909 be in the DVD drive?
