Windows 10: Do the "plug-and-play" driver details store the connection information of the external...

An external DVI compatible monitor does not get awakened when connected to the HDMI port of a laptop running Windows 11 Home 24H2. There is no problem if the laptop is set to never go to sleep. Is it possible that the "plug-and-play" driver details store DVI as the connection and not HDMI and then try to awaken a non-existent DVI port on the laptop?

My plug and play is still on running after 2.5 Hours

I would suggest you to stop the plug and play service and again start the service and check the status of this issue. Follow the steps below to stop the Plug and Play service.

• 
  Press Windows Key + R key
  
• 
  Type “Services.msc” and press Enter
  
• 
  Right click on Plug and Play and click on stop
  
• 
  Again start the service.

• Do you get any error message or error code on the screen?
• If yes, what exactly is the error message?
• Have you tried to connect hard drive in different computer?
• Have you tried to connect external hard drive with different USB port?

As of now, I suggest you to run the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter by following the steps below and check if it helps.

• Click on the Start button, and type “Troubleshooting” on the search bar.
• Click on troubleshooting, then click on “Hardware and Devices”.
• A pop-up will appear, click on the “Next” button and your hardware troubleshooting will start.
