Windows 10: Documents and folders are not opening for me.

When I click on a document, it doesn't open for me. It is there, but it is behind the page I am on, so I have to minimize the page I am on in order to get to the page I want.


It does this most, if not all, of the time. And it applies to google too, if it is already minimized and i click on it to restore it, it doesn't appear. I'm stuck on the page I am on until I minimize it.

Is this a setting that's inadvertently been changed?


Before you ask, have there been any updates recently, the answer is probably yes. I believe Windows 10 automatically updates my computer every night while I am asleep so the next day, something new doesn't work properly.

Downloads folder is the Documents folder

I suggest you to Restore to Default the folders and document settings and see if it helps.

Step 1:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Download folder.
• Right click on the Download Folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

Step 2:

Please follow below steps and check if it helps.

• Go to Documents folder.
• Right click on the Document folder and go to Properties.
• In Properties go to Location tab.
• In location Tab Click on Restore Default.

After performing above steps change the settings as you required and check if it helps.

Windows boots, My Documents auto opens. WTF?

That was going to be my first suggestion. *Toast :toast:

 

Documents/Pictures folders under 'This PC' refer to onedrive - not the local folders

Since the only folder that has incorrect file path is the Documents folder under This PC, we would suggest you do the same steps provided above. However, do it in your Documents folder under This PC. To do so, kindly follow the steps below:

• Open File Explorer
• Click This PC
• Right-click on Documents
• Click Properties
• Click Location
• Click Restore Default
• Click Apply
• Click OK
