Windows 10: Documents folder in Pictures, tried solution, Documents folder is still in Pictures and...

I noticed some of my folders Pictures, Desktop, Documents were in One Drive and wanted to move them. I tried right click, Properties>Location>Restore Default, which worked for Desktop but for Pictures and Documents I got "Can't move the folder because there is a folder in the same location that can't be redirected. Access is denied." Searching that error message got me to this page, which made me realize my Documents folder was not only in One Drive but was in Pictures which was in One Drive. I followed the instructions on the page for the Documents folder, but things are weird now.

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

picture folder became a copy of document folder

Hi,

while setting up windows 10, something very perplexing happened. Since I have 2 hard drive, one that is ssd and one that is HDD, I changed the location of " my document" folder and "my picture" from my ssd to my other hard drive. Then this happened, my picture
folder became a copy my document folder as shown in the picture below.



. Upon further investigation, I noticed that the Picture folder literally became a copy of the Document folder because whenever I modified one the change would show on the other. I suspect they became the same folder. So how do I uncouple these 2 two folder?
Windows doesn't let me change the name. I also tried to restore to default location but the default location of the "picture" folder turns out to be inside the "Documents" folder.

 

Second Documents & Pictures Folders


My data files are all on a second hard drive, so I have changed the location of the Special Folders to point to them. Every so often I discover a second Documents or Pictures folder (with a 2 appended) lurking in my folder list, always empty.

Anyone know how to stop this?
