Windows 10: Documents folder missing from %USERPROFILE% but can be found if I go to C:\Users

I went to access my documents folder and I noticed that it wasn't showing in some explorer windows. Specifically, it shows up when I go directly to C:\Users\xxx\ but doesnt show up if I go to %USERPROFILE%Additionally, if I go to %USERPROFILE% only 17 items show. But if I go to C:\Users\xxx\ 18 items show.Anyone seen this before or have a solution?

Userprofile folder not showing

Open admin Command Prompt and run the following commands:

• dir c:\users /a
  

• echo %userprofile%
  

• type %userprofile%\desktop.ini

Missing document folder in C drive

Hi teresakrajewska,

Is this the usual Documents library folder or one you created yourself?

If it is the usual Documents folder, i t should be located here (replace username with your login name)

C:\Users\username

Or in the address bar of File Explorer, paste this and hit Enter:

%UserProfile%/Documents

 

Onedrive changes desktop link to %USERPROFILES%\Documents to OneDrive's\Documents folder

This is absolutely driving me nuts.

I have a link to the local Documents folder (because Onedrive slows down everything I do locally to a crawl). The path is simply this:

%USERPROFILE%\Documents

It should point to C:\Users\(username)\Documents

But when I double click the link (which I save to my Desktop, which is located on C:\Users\(username)\OneDrive\Desktop), Windows CHANGES the path to C:\Users\(username)\OneDrive\Documents

How do I create a link to C:\Users\(username)\Documents on my Onedrive Desktop, and when I double-click the link, it GOES to C:\Users\(username)\Documents ?

It's driving me NUTS! How do I STOP Windows from doing this? And since this is a corporate laptop, I can't UNINSTALL Onedrive so that's not an option.
