Documents in limbo after my attempt of moving it to \D

I tried moving my Documents folder from C to D. Properties -> Location -> Move -> D:\. But it caused an access denied error, something about template folder. Now, the directory look like this:https://ibb.co/nn1fjgVhttps://ibb.co/qn6QQzPThe previous Documents folders shortcut became another shortcut for D:\If I search for the Documents folder, I can still find it:https://ibb.co/BBDyKFfBut I can't find it if I go back to the user folder.https://ibb.co/WV2GWJQI'm stumped. How did this error happen? How do I resolve this? Thank you.

    :)

  2. Accidentally moved Documents files to D:\ path

    Hi Hitman106,

    1. Open This PC, right-click on the Documents folder and click Properties
    2. In the Location tab, click the Restore Default button.
    3. Choose No when you see the “Do you want to move all the files from the old location” prompt.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Move the documents/files manually from d:\ to the default location (C:\Users\Ken\Documents)

Move documents from D drive into reinstalled program

    Hi,

We recommend that you contact the program developer for instructions on how to move your files. They should be able to provide you a step-by-step guide on you can move your documents from the D:\ drive to their program.

    Thank you.

How to Move Files (not Apps) from C to D?

I’m asking this common question because of the many different explanations on how to move data files (not apps) from C to D. Some instruct use Windows Explorer, right click Folder > Properties > Move Location; others suggest drag and drop, or copy and paste from C to D. Some say to use command scripts or registry changes, or Partitions. What is the safest way?

    • Do I also need to make any changes to my Shell Folders and/or User Shell Folders too?
    • Finally, for the Folder Change Location method, some instruct to move location to D:\Documents, for example. Why wouldn’t the path be D:\users\NAME\Documents?
    Many Thanks! Michael
