Windows 10: .Docx and other office related files duplicated

Hi, when I open a office file, a copy of it, but less visible appears and I'm concerned about it, it is a virus? If yes, what can I do about it?

I already did all the steps you suggested but MS Office 2013 ignored my change and defaulted to *.docx. Is there some other solution?

Do you have Microsoft Office installed on your PC, if so, those should open in Word, and the file association may be broken . . .

Follow these steps to perform a full repair of your Office installation . . .

Open Control Panel - Programs and Features

Click Microsoft Office in the list of installed applications

At the top, click 'Change'

On the resulting dialog, click 'Repair' - choose the Online Repair, it is a comprehensive fix

That should fix any issues with your Office Installation . . .

If you do not have Microsoft Office, right click a docx file and choose Properties, then click 'Change' on the resulting dialog, and from the resulting list, choose Wordpad to open that file . . .
