    Does a clean reinstall get rid of trojans?


    I scanned my device today and it detected a trojan. It was detected in 2 different files related to Google Chrome. I have no idea how I got a trojan, since I follow all the recommended security things like not downloading from shady websites and keeping Windows updated. Windows Defender was unable to remove the malware, so I manually deleted the files myself.I didn't write down what virus it was, but Defender said it was a severe trojan that steals banking credentials.I reinstalled windows as soon as I found out. I did the reinstall where the computer takes 2 hours to get rid of absolutely e

    Windows Defender is not getting rid of the Trojans. Does anyone have suggestions?

    Since none of the troubleshooting steps here worked, I'd suggest you do a Clean install.
