  1. Does a force shutdown clear kernel despite having fast start up on?

I'm just curious if a force shutdown would still not clear the kernel if the fast start up option is still enabled. Will it be the same as a normal shutdown?Additionally, I noticed after shutting down my computer the clock timer still goes on.I'm wondering if the timer will just resume once the computer is on the lock-screen/logged back in or if the timer keeps going despite the computer being shut down. When exactly will the timer resume? Does it continue forever, on lock-screen, or on log on?

    :)

  2. Clear Pagefile on Shutdown

I've been looking into clearing the pagefile, and I found the following steps at a somewhat dated webpage:
    1. In the registry editor, navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management
    2. Set ClearPageFileAtShutdown to the REG_DWORD value of 1.
    3. Restart Windows.
I'm just wondering whether those steps are still valid, and, if so, does clearing the pagefile work as advertised?

Can't do hybrid shutdown, despite enabled fast boot

Have a look at your reliability history and see if there has been a shutdown problem. The fast boot process will also fail if the shutdown failed.

Type reliability in the search box and select "View Reliability History". Here is mine showing 29 and 30th October with shutdown failures - the fast boot did not work when starting up after these events but did every other time.

Abnormal shutdowns with Fast Startup enabled

Hello - I recently (18/6/2018) set up a new laptop(Dell Vostro 5370) which for the most part is running well, but Reliability History shows frequent "Windows was not properly shut down" events, which a sleep study report from powercfg shows are associated
with transitions into what the sleep study labels as "Shutdown (hybrid)". There are corresponding critical Kernel-Power event ID41 entries in Event Viewer. Turning off Fast Startup seems to work round the issue, but it would be good not to have to do this.
As well as updating everything in sight I have tried the usual checks with DISM and sfc, and run the hardware checks in Dell's SupportAssist, but they show no problem. I have also run the Boot Performance (Fast Startup) assessment in the Windows Assessment
Toolkit, but this just reports that it cannot complete the assessment owing to a system crash. Can anyone suggest any other troubleshooting steps, or remedies? Thanks...
