  1. Does a small RAM OC can cause system instability?

    Hello, everyone

After a couple of months I figure out that I was setting the wrong clock to my ram. I always thought that the clock was supposed to be set as 3200mhz but turns out it was 3000mhz. I've been experiencing lots and lots of crashing, windows rebooting ramdomly and always thought that was a faulty GPU (In fact I was about to RMA).

So, my question is: does that small OC on my ram may be the cause of my system instability?

I tried a lot of fixes as bios update, windows clean format, different GPU drivers etc...

    My setup:

    CPU Ryzen 5 3600

    GPU RX 5700 XT

    Mobo MSI b450m Bazooka v2

    2x Crucial Ballistix 8gb 3000mhz

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.

  3. PC Build Steps

Ok just because I like steps i am going to create some steps. Please give me the stamp of approval/disapproval
    • Install system in case
      • Remember to connect SSD and optical to same SATA ports on motherboard
    • Turn on PC
    • setup HDD
    • run blend test in prime95 for 30-60 min
      • run realtemp at the same time
    • While in Prime95 test
      • if CPU goes above 70c in RealTemp, I have a leaky CPU
      • if my system locks up or blue screens, there is an instability in the system somewhere
      • if my system does not lock up or blue screen, my CPU is not damaged and I am in the clear!
    What do you guys think??

System instability with new processor / mobo

    Hi,

So I inserted the new RAM into my old mobo/processor and ran Memtest overnight. Only 4 passes, but it detected several errors:
This is during the second pass (then I went to bed):

This was the summary in the morning.

I have now removed one stick of RAM and am running 4 more passes on the remaining one. If is doesn't find any errors I'll then swap them, and see if I can pinpoint the faulty module.

Do these errors look significant enough to you to cause issues? I have no experience with Memtest.
