  1. Does Adjusting the Windows Language or Location Settings impact my music and personal files?

I just did a full reset of Windows 10 Home Version 1909 and wiped everything off of the computer Yes I backed up my important files. I have decided to start completely fresh in my computer uses and needs. I also looked at a few settings that I was less familiar with or had not used in the past during the installation and post installation process. After the installation of Windows 10, I wanted to double check if my keyboard and display language setting settings were listed as English US in both Windows Display Language and Preferred Language sub-settings under Language in the Time and Language settings. It also took me a while to figure out how the Location sub-settings under Privacy worked to set Windows to automatically detect my location for it to display weather information for my local area. I do my best to make sure I adjust settings properly and safely and leave stuff that I have no clue as to their functions or cannot find information on alone. I am also sorting out many of my personal files such as which to save and which to delete and re-ripping my large music collection as both a reorganization and downsizing process in preparation to moving over to a new computer sometime around the end of this year or early next year.

These questions may sound odd but I want to make sure I did not do something wrong that could negatively impact my personal files or large music collection.

    1. Would having Windows display and keyboard languages in a different language in any way or form impact the language of the filenames or audio quality of my audio files that are either created during the Compact Disc re-ripping process or are already stored on my hard drive? Would the device location setting adjustments also have any impact on the music files during re-ripping or storage?

    2. Would the language and location settings mentioned in the previous question also impact the filename display or any other property settings on my personal files and folders such as photos, documents, and additional software e.g. iTunes, Google Chrome, Logitech Gaming Software, etc.?

    3. Out of curiosity, my hard drives have large storage capacities and I saw no need to enable file and folder compression when I formatted my hard drives. My understanding is when the compression feature is activated that my files will be automatically compressed when stored on or copied onto that drive. My question is if I move those files over to a hard drive that does not have the compression feature enabled, will the files and folders automatically decompress to their normal sizes? Also, would the audio quality of my music files or quality of my photos and video files be impacted if stored or copied onto a hard drive with compression enabled and transferred to a hard drive without compression enabled or vice-versa?

    Thanks.

    :)

Windows 8.1 update changed the language, can't change back

Maybe, these will help... it seems it is a common enough problem.

Language packs are no longer available after you upgrade to Windows 8.1

And, sort of the same here --> Add a language or keyboard

Quote from above MS web page:

Spoiler Download and install language packs
You'll need to download the language pack if you want to make a language your Windows display language (that's the language you see most often in Windows and apps).
    • Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.
(If you're using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)
    • Tap or click Time and language, and then tap or click Region and language.
    • Tap or click a language that says Language pack available underneath, and then tap or click Options.
    • Tap or click Download. The download process might take a while, depending on your PC and the size of the language pack.
If you want to make this your display language, see the next section "Change your Windows display language".
    Change your Windows display language
To change your Windows display language (that's the language you see most often in Windows and apps), first add a language, download and install the language pack, and then follow these steps.
    • Tap or click the language that you want to set as your display language.
    • Tap or click Set as primary to move the language to the top of the list. If the language can become your Windows display language, you'll see Will be display language after next sign-in appear under the language.
    • Sign out and then sign back in to finish.
And here is some more info --> Add Language Packs to Windows

Cortana Language: No option for English - United States

    Hi Randy,

There are few languages that Windows 10 has pre-installed in the system itself. We suggest that you check these languages and locate the language that you want to install. Follow these steps below to locate the language:

    • Click on the Start Menu, locate and select Settings.
    • Click on Time and Language.
    • Locate and select Region and Language.
    • Click on Add a Language.
If you cannot find the language, you can download a language pack for Windows 10 on this link:

Does Adjusting the Windows Language or Location Settings impact my music and personal files?

    Location setting

    Hi,

This issue could occur due to incorrect location settings or it would depend on your IP address. We suggest you to check the location settings of your PC, and check if it helps. Here are the steps:

    • Click the Start button, and select Settings.
    • Go to Privacy, and choose Location.
    • Make sure that the Location service is On.

If issue persists, then it has something to do with your IP address. It’s because the location detected depends on the location set on your IP address.

Let us know how it goes.
