Windows 10: Does anyone know how Microsoft Remote Desktop connection got into my device

So I was looking through my control panel and saw this program I don’t remember installing it’s made by Microsoft and is called Remote Desktop connection I searched it up and it is made by Microsoft I checked my download history and didn’t see anything on august 22nd which is when it said it was downloaded but when I checked my updates I had 3 updates installed on the 22nd I’m scared that someone got access to my pc does anyone know if windows updates can install Microsoft programs onto your pc?

Remote Desktop Connection problems


Have you tried Remote Desktop Connection, to connect from your Windows 10 laptop to your Windows 7 desktop? Try it first, post back and tell how it went.

Some additional help because you mentioned you are a remote newbie *Wink. The windows 7 related tutorials from our sister site the Seven Forums:

1. On Windows 7 desktop, set network location to either Home or Work (I recommend Work):
   • Network Location - Set as Home, Work, or Public Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
2. On Windows 7 desktop, allow incoming remote connections:
   • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) - Network - Windows 7 Help Forums
3. On Windows 7 desktop, find out its IP address:

4. On Windows 10 laptop, start the Remote Desktop application and connect to the Windows 7 desktop using the IP address from step 3 above (see Part Three in the tutorial):
   • RDC - Connect Remotely to your Windows 10 PC - Windows 10 Forums
   • Notice that although the tutorial is written for Windows 10, it also applies to Windows 7

1. Are you using the Microsoft remote desktop app?
   

If you are using the Microsoft remote desktop app downloaded from
Microsoft store then, I suggest you to follow the steps to
fix problems with apps from Microsoft Store.



If the issue still persists with the Microsoft remote desktop app, then you can contact the support team by going to the

link and scrolling down to the bottom and clicking on
Microsoft remote desktop support under the Publisher info.



However, if you are using the Remote desktop connection, which comes pre-installed with Windows 10, then I suggest you to please post your question in the
TechNet forum.

how do I delete a desktop off remote desktop connection?

Hi,

To disable Remote Desktop Connection, please follow the steps below:

• On the Start menu, search for SystemPropertiesRemote.exe
  and hit Enter to open the Remote tab of the
  System Properties options. Type in the password if prompted.
• Under Remote Desktop, you will see three options:
  • 
    Don’t allow remote connections to this computer
    
  • 
    Allow remote connections to this computer
    
  • 
    Allow connections only from computers running Remote Desktop with Network Level Authentication (recommended)
    
• Select the desired option, and click on Apply, and then
  OK to save the settings.
