Windows 10: Does copying files from external hard drive prevent windows 10 from going to sleep?

I was copying files between hard drives when I fell asleep, I woke up and the computer was in sleep mode. When I logged on it appeared the transfer had finished but I couldn't tell if it had just finished in time before sleep mode happened or if the transfer had prevented sleep mode before it finished.

USB Selective suspend setting under the USB tab is off.

Edit: I found this program however I don't like there solution, they suggest that external hard drives go to sleep after 10 minutes. maybe there is not way to control the sleep timer on an external drive

• Open your External Hard Drive file in File Explorer.
• Type the name of the file you want to search on the search box and click Enter.

The file will show up in Search Results and you will be able to move it to the correct folder.

  Right click on the external hard drive and click on
