Does high searchindexer.exe cpu usage indicate possible problems?

Windows 10.Recently, soon after starting the computer, the mouse pointer becomes the little blue buffering circle. This usually turns into a disruptive period where the computer stops responding. I had thought it was due to Microsoft Edge's latest update. I'm not sure but Taskmanager details tab indicated that 'searchindexer.exe was using over 240 k or working memory. All other apps listed in at less than 90k. Does this mean that searchindexer.exe is clogging up my system? I will try the safe mode startup and the task manager startup and details tabs to see just where and what is the source of

  2. high cpu usage of ntoskrnl.exe HvilsHypervisor

Hi Sangmin. I'm Greg, 10 years awarded Windows MVP, here to help you.

    1) Try these fixes for known issue of high CPU usage due to ntoskrnl.exe:

(Avoid ad links which intrude into editorial copy, especially avoid Restoro, PC Repair Tool and Reimage ads)

    2) Go over Windows using this checklist to make sure the install is set up correctly, optimized for best performance, and any needed repairs get done: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

Start with Step 4 to turn off Startup freeloaders which can conflict and cause issues, then Step 7 to check for infection the most thorough way, then step 10 to check for damaged System Files, and also Step 16 to test a new Local Admin account to replace yours which may be corrupted. Then if necessary continue with the other steps to go over your install most thoroughly.

    3) Update your drivers and BIOS/UEFI firmware from the PC or motherboard maker's Support Downloads web page, using the full model number, Serial Number or Dell Service Tag on sticker. Compare the latest drivers available for download with the ones presently installed in Device Manager reached by right clicking the Start button. Make sure you have the latest BIOS or UEFI firmware, Chipset, Display (Video), Sound, USB3, Bluetooth, Network and all other drivers, or else download and install the latest now.

Updating drivers from the Device Manager or Windows Update is rarely enough. The most basic thing we need to learn to maintain a PC is keep the latest manufacturer's drivers installed from their Support Downloads web page. Everything else depends on this.

    4) If nothing else works then do a Repair Install, by installing Media Creation Tool, open tool and choose to Upgrade Now. This reinstalls Windows while keeping files, programs and most settings in place, is the most stable method to advance to the latest version, and solves most problems. Feel free to ask back any questions. Based on the results you post back I may have other suggestions if necessary.

  3. There is a very high CPU usage from the Microsoft(C) Register Server (regsvr32.exe).

Thank you for the update. If in safe mode the problem does not occur and the issue occurs on normal boot, there is a possibility of a third-party program which makes Microsoft Register Server fluctuate into high CPU usage. Can you provide further information
for us to isolate this issue further? Please answer the following questions:

    • Are there any programs recently installed on the PC?
    • Which programs currently run on your PC when the usage turns high?

To isolate the issue as well, try to turn on the PC and don’t open any programs for a few minutes. Try to check if the CPU usage is still high. If it is, there’s a probability that it is one of the programs running on the background.

We suggest checking this support article: Tips to improve PC performance in Windows 10 and try to follow the
recommendations to check if this will improve the performance of the device.

We’ll be waiting for any updates regarding the issue.
