Windows 10: Does lack of RAM cause high disk usage?

When my laptop starts up, disk usage is at 100% (it has quite a number of programs that start on startup) but goes down to around 40% after a while. During that time my RAM usage is around 80%.

Is this a sign of hard drive failure which needs a backup and replacement, or just lacks RAM (Pagefile)?

The laptop is four years old and runs build 1909.

Disk usage

Hi kittu, since you have 8GB of RAM, upgrading your RAM will not reduce your Disk Usage, since your system is probably not writing to virtual memory to compensate for lack of RAM . . .

OK, so, open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc)

Let your system come to rest and make sure your disk activity is high

Click on the Disk Column Header, so the arrow is facing down

Please list what processes are now top of the list - or provide a screenshot of the Task Manager window - expand any processes at the top if required

 

High disk usage and Ram usage

I am using Dell laptop with 8gb ram ddr3 and 5200rpm hardrive.

Hardrive has very high usage during startup and ram too .

pictueres are of almost same time and see the difference in ram usage what is it.

Disk usage becomes normal after 5minutes of booting the pc but before that it remains hanged and diskusage is almost 100%
