Does Malware Anti Exploit work with Microsoft Edge?

    Title says it all.

Malwarebytes web site does not mention Edge?

    Attachment 103743

I have done research and it seems MBAE may function with Edge.

    Can somebody confirm either way?

    :)

  2. Malware error "Malware Anti-Exploit Protection is not started. The Anti-Exploit process will be terminated" on Windows 10

    Old title: Malware error

I keep getting the message "Malware Anti-Exploit Protection is not started. The Anti-Exploit process will be terminated." I uninstalled Norton Virus Protection from my computer because it was causing errors. I am using Slim Cleaner as my Anti virus program.
How do I resolve this error and does Norton Antivirus conflict with Slim Cleaner? Appreciate any assistance given.

    Thanks,

Does Malware Anti Exploit work with Microsoft Edge?

It does with the RTM......but not with the latest Insider version which effects opening the browser.

I have no idea what this means? What is RTM?

It means released to manufacture.....in other words released to the general public.

  7. Hi:

AFAIK there are no known general issues with MBAE (Malwarebytes Anti-Exploit) Free or Premium under Windows 10 AU RTM or Insider builds.

I could be wrong, but I am not aware of any specific issues reported at the MBAE Support forum with RTM or Insider Builds.
Yes, there are a handful of individual reports of issues and glitches, as one might expect.
No software can be expected to perform flawlessly on every single one of millions and millions of hardware/software setups.

There is a known issue with the standalone Junkware Removal Tool (JRT) and the latest build of Win10 AU RTM.
As reported here, JRT is not creating a SRP when it should.
The devs are aware and are working with MS to resolve it.
The workaround is to create a manual SRP before running JRT under Win 10 AU 14393.187.

But this is unrelated to MBAE.*Wink

If you are experiencing issues with MBAE and either AU 14393.187 or with an Insider build, it would be advisable to report the problem in the MBAE support forum HERE.
That's the only way the QA team and developers will know to research the problem, as they likely do not monitor this forum or the countless other general computer fora....*Smile

    Cheers,
    MM

Does Malware Anti Exploit work with Microsoft Edge?

Reported to Insider feedback as Edge refusing to open, reason MBAE conflict.

  9. Thanks for reporting...

In order to bring it to the attention of the MBAE devs, however, I suggest the following:

I do not work for Malwarebytes and have no financial or other interest in the product.
But there are not any similar, current reports at the MBAE forum that I can find.
So, it might expedite a "fix" to report it directly there, in addition to the MS reporting.

It's up to you, of course.
    This is just a suggestion.

    Cheers,
    MM

I have to agree with MM on this one. Reporting it to Malwarebytes only helps them to be proactive, and could solve a lot of problems for future. Only takes a minute. If I were still on Insider I would do it. *Wink

  12. Maybe the problem is random?
I have been using MBAE Free since upgrading to Win10 Pro back in June of this year. I use EDGE, am on AU 14393.222; I haven’t had any conflicts and still don’t.

Does Malware Anti Exploit work with Microsoft Edge?

MS have changed something in Edge on the latest Insider build. It is unknown if this is a permanent or temporary code change. It wouldn't affect you on your build.

  14. @Jeddie:

Getting back to your original question….

If you experience issues with the current release build of MBAE (1.08.1.2572) under Win10 AU RTM, options include:

    • Installing the current BETA build (1.09.1.1180)
      • It may be downloaded from the special link HERE and installed on top of your existing MBAE version; OR
    • Using either of these workarounds, depending on whether you have MBAE Free or Premium/Trial:
      • Temporarily disabling MBAE real-time protection from the system tray icon (MBAE Free) to use Edge; OR
      • Changing the MBAE settings to disable only real-time shields for MS Edge from the “shields” tab of the GUI (MBAE Premium or Trial). This will leave all other shields for other programs in place.
    @dencal:

As you correctly pointed out, Win 10 Insider Build is BETA software. Instability and compatibility issues are to be expected.

Option 1 above may or may not resolve the issue for you – the current MBAE BETA build predates the current Insider Build of Win10. So I cannot say if it will resolve the Edge issue under the current Win10 Insider Build.

The workarounds in Option 2 above will probably temporarily resolve your issue to allow Edge to run.

If you would like to help participate in the efficient development of a real, robust fix, then reporting the Edge issue to the MBAE QA and Development teams in the appropriate venue(s) – not just to MS – would be most helpful.
    Options include:

    Respectfully submitted,
    MM
